Fire Protection Association of Southern Africa

The Fire Protection Association of Southern Africa (FPASA) was established in 1973 to provide a specialized fire safety management technical and training service to industry, commerce, fire and rescue services and society at large.

Over the years the Association has developed a range of membership options and technical, training and fire safety management services that are recognized for their quality, professionalism and value.

Today the role of the FPASA covers fire safety Education, Information, Advice, Consultancy and Training (Fire College).

The Fire College is a professional training centre dedicated to assist in the reduction of life and property losses in the Southern African region. It provides training on request of FPASA members and non-members alike, and in addition provides standard training programmes to suit the broad spectrum of industrial, commerce, institutional and local authority requirements.

Rural Metro Emergency Management Services (PTY) LTD was founded on the premise that communities and industries can benefit from innovative ways of delivering Fire and Risk Management Services. As a private company, we are not bound by tradition, finding better, more efficient ways of managing personnel and resources. Pursuing prevention is our prime strategy. Key to our success is world-class training and education for our employees and clients. Growth has been a goal, but a secondary goal to being the best at what we do. Established in October 2000, we are a fully independent organization that specializes in Fire Brigade Services, Training and Disaster Management. Rural Metro’s Internationally Accredited Academy offers training in a range of subjects relative to Firefighting, Disaster Management and Occupational Health and Safety. With 21 years of dedicated service , we remain proud of what we have accomplished. We are especially proud of our people, whose energy, dedication and genuine caring is the very backbone of Rural Metro. They are our future – a future that looks very bright.

Spatial Risk Solutions

Spatial Risk Solutions (SRS) is a black-owned specialist consultancy focusing specifically on enhancing disaster resilience and the development of spatially enabled decision support tools. SRS has vast experience in the disaster risk management space having undertaken projects throughout South Africa for both private and public sector clients at a municipal, provincial and national level covering the whole disaster risk management continuum.  

SRS is made-up of a network of GIS and disaster risk management specialists capable of producing and executing world class products and projects that  enables organizations to make informed decisions when it matters.

SRS is led by Nabeel Rylands, who has worked in the dsaster resilience and GIS fields for more than 20 years having held key positions in the disaster risk management  and GIS fraternity. He has undertaken projects  throughout South Africa as well as in Mozambique and Rwanda.

With its vast experience and sound track record, SRS is well placed to deliver projects that will increase the resilience of communities and create a sustainable future for all.

The South African Red Cross Society

The South African Red Cross Society is a member organisation of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Socities (IFRC), which is the largest volunteer driven organisation on earth. The Red Cross Society has 100 million members and a presence in 189 countries.

In August 2007 the South African Government recognized The South African Red Cross Society as an Official Auxiliary to the Government in Humanitarian Aid.

Humanitarian services in South Africa can be traced back to the late 1800’s. The South African Red Cross Society was established in 1921 and admitted into the IFRC in 1929.

Today the South African Red Cross Society is a member of the IFRC Governing Board.

It has three main components:

  • The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
  • 189 member Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
  • As partners, the different members of the Movement support communities in becoming stronger and safer through a variety of development projects and humanitarian activities. The Movement also works in cooperation with governments, donors, and other aid organizations to assist vulnerable people around the world.
