Type of organisation

The Climate and Disaster Resilience Fund (Registration number: 2021/697326/08) is a Non-Profit Company (NPC). The fund is an independent entity, governed by a board of directors.

The founding members of the fund include: the South African Insurance Association (SAIA), Swiss-Re Southern Africa, South African Weather Service, Department of Cooperative Governance, National Disaster Management Centre and Santam.

OPERATIONAL STRUCTURE

The operational structure of the CDRF  is led by an Executive Director. The CDRF operations are enabled by four departments: Project Implementation, Mobilisation of funds and CDRF Operations

  • Planning & executing of authorised project interventions
  • Managing project risks
  • Reporting on project progress
  • Managing stakeholder interests
  • Identify prospective donors from national & international government & non-government sources;
  • Prepare funding proposals for identified projects in terms of donor requirements;
  • Build & manage the relationship between the CDRF and donors; and
  • Fulfil donor reporting requirements
  • Consider business cases for proposed project interventions;
  • Develop & maintain project funding criteria;
  • Authorise funding of agreed project interventions;
  • Procure goods & services;
  • Administer & manage the finances relating to the CDRF;
  • Develop & maintain criteria for disaster relief & support.
